Health experts at National University of Health Sciences presented the top five health benefits of adding regular massage therapy from a licensed practitioner to your health and wellness strategy. These are:

  • Lower stress
The long-term effects of stress can take emotional and physical tolls. Massage therapy may relieve you from stress and conditions associated with it, such as tension headaches.
  • Increased Immune Function
Medical research indicates that massage therapy can help you boost your immune system strength by increasing the activity level of the body’s natural “killer T cells,” which fight off viruses.
  • Boosted Mental Health and Wellness
Research suggests that symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression (all associated with mental health) may be directly affected by massage therapy.
  • Pain Management and Improved Range of Motion
Pain can negatively affect a person’s quality of life and impede recovery from illness or injury. Recent findings highlight the role of massage in pain management.
  • Improved Physical Fitness
Elite and recreational athletes alike can benefit from massage therapy – massage can reduce muscle tension, improve exercise performance, and prevent injuries.

Your massage session will take place in the comfort of your home or office. You will select your location during the booking process. One of the most obvious advantages of having a massage session at home is personal comfort. You can pick your own music, dim the lights, set the temperature and customize your environment however you want – all without worrying about body odor or noise from other customers. The fact that you don’t have to leave your house also means convenience; no transport costs or time wasted travelling back-and-forth for treatments which makes it much easier on both wallet and schedule!

The short answer is yes, it may be safer to get a massage session at home during COVID-19 than in a massage parlor or Spa, where multiple customers enter the same place every day. Our Massage therapists follow protocols designed for “COVID safe” sessions where they wear masks and use social distanced settings. By limiting how many people enter your space (just 1 therapist instead of several other patrons) you can reduce exposure even further. A one hour relaxing experience alone in one’s own personal space can help alleviate stress – especially in times like these! At home massages offer convenience as well as privacy in the comfort of your own space for both parties involved. This means that there is also less risk involved since you will only ever come into contact with one person – yourself! You don’t have to worry about being exposed to other people who may potentially have been infected with Covid-19 since it’s just yourself and the massage therapist coming from outside.

Massage Katoikon offers massage services daily 09:00 am to 09:00 pm

When deciding which type of massage to select, it is important to consider what your needs and preferences are. Massage types vary in pressure, techniques used, and styles. For example, Swedish massage is a classic relaxation technique that uses light to medium pressure strokes; while deep tissue massage uses slow, strong strokes that penetrate deeply into the muscle layers. If you’re looking for general relaxation and stress relief, then perhaps Swedish is the best. If you’re dealing with chronic pain or aches from an injury then deep tissue or trigger point may be better suited for your needs. If you have increased flexibility as a goal then Thai massage or stretch session might be ideal as its stretching approach paired with meditation can get you in tune with your body’s movements and reduce tension points. Each style also has benefits beyond just feeling good: Swedish massage increases circulation throughout the body; deep tissue helps reduce inflammation; trigger point therapy can break up knots which enable muscles to relax more quickly; Thai works on both internal organ systems as well as physical body parts providing an overall wellness experience. In addition to considering the type of pressure/technique when selecting a massage type there may be additional elements such as aromatherapy (essential oils) associated with certain treatments that could increase the relaxing benefits provided by each session even more! Ultimately choosing a style should come down to what suits your individual needs best — if unsure it’s always recommended to start with a Swedish relaxing session and discuss further options available with the massage therapist that will take care of you!

When booking a massage session, you will see the option to select the massage therapist of your choice. Otherwise, you can browse to our Massage Therapists page to read more information about each therapist and their credentials. From each Massage Therapist’s dedicated page you can book a session directly with them.

Our booking process is simple and tailored to make it easy for you. Start by clicking the book button, select your city, select the type of massage you want, and then select the therapist. Many clients are unsure if and/or how much they should tip their massage therapist. We recommend you think of your massage therapist as you would a waiter in a restaurant. Our massage therapists love what they do, and your tip may reflect your appreciation for their service. Tipping is neither required nor expected, but of course we appreciate the gesture! Our massage therapists do not depend on tips, but if you would like to leave a tip, feel free to do so.

General Massage Questions

In general, there are a few conditions that would prevent you from getting a massage. Of course, do not schedule an appointment if you are feeling unwell, have a fever, cold, or a skin condition that is contagious. The first trimester of pregnancy is generally considered off-limits for massage, as are active chemotherapy or other intensive medical treatments. If you have a serious medical condition and you are unsure if a massage would be safe for you, massage therapists will recommend that you speak with your primary care provider to get approval first.

Individual preference varies, so for most it depends on your pain, physical needs, emotional needs, and of course, budget. Receiving a massage regularly has the most benefit; this can be as often as weekly or monthly. With our Massage Katoikon subscriptions, you not only can treat yourself monthly or weekly but also enjoy other perks and benefits!

Massage therapy is a great natural solution when you want relief from pain, but it can also be used as a preventive treatment too. Seeing your massage therapist regularly can help:

  • Lower cortisol and raise serotonin levels to calm and relax your body
  • Loosen tight muscles, which may increase blood flow, leading to lowering your blood pressure

Often, depending on what you are seeing your massage therapist for, they may use a different technique or massage modality. There are many examples of different massage therapies, including Swedish Massage, Neuromuscular Therapy, Connective Tissue Therapy, Deep Tissue Therapy, Joint Mobilization, or Stone Therapy.

Massage is excellent for relaxation! But it also has many other benefits.

Massage helps with chronic muscle aches and pains. It helps to reduce stress and ease muscle tension. It’s also great to improve circulation, alleviate breathing problems, lower your blood pressure, reduce headaches, improve your daily mobility and wellbeing, and help you manage anxiety and depression. Massage also helps to promote good, healthy sleep.

The answer to this question depends on several factors. Generally speaking, a massage should not hurt – it should be both relaxing and invigorating. However, there are certain cases where a massage may cause some pain or discomfort.

For instance, if the therapist applies too much pressure, it can result in soreness or even bruising. If the person receiving the massage has particularly sensitive skin, they might experience more pain than usual as well. Additionally, if areas of tension and knots are present within the body’s soft tissues (like muscles), pressing on them can cause temporary discomfort before they relax after the treatment is over.

In order to avoid any pain during your massage session, you can communicate your needs and comfort levels with your massage therapist beforehand so that they have an understanding of what level of pressure will feel most comfortable for you. You should also inform them about any existing injuries or physical conditions so that appropriate precautions and modifications are made during the session accordingly to reduce potential pain triggers from occurring altogether.

Before, During, and After Your Massage

After booking your massage session we need you to fill out an online intake form from your appointment confirmation email. This will give our therapists the information to devise a custom-tailored treatment plan to help transition you back on the road to recovery. By performing an assessment, it will give both you and therapist an objective and subjective measure to gauge the overall improvements of your body after the treatment.

They may also ask more in-depth questions to establish which areas you would like focused on, or if there are any specific conditions needing to be addressed. It is important to list all health concerns and medication so that your therapist can adapt your session to your specific needs without causing any harm. It is also important to specify any allergies so that your therapist may adjust the oil or cream being used during your visit.

Your therapist will bring a massage bed and body oils. You will only need to have a large towel available, ideally 1×1.5m size. Then just get in a relaxation mood, have shower to help you relax. You can pick your own music, dim the lights, and customize your environment however you want. Adjust your room temperature considering that you will be still and undressed during the massage session. Avoid eating or drinking at least 1 hour before your appointment.

Please make sure your Massage Therapist is informed of any medical conditions or allergies you suffer from. Your massage therapist is your friend and wellness partner, so feel free to discuss with him anything that is on your mind!

During this conversation, it is important that you communicate any relevant medical information as well as specific areas or muscles that are causing discomfort and require extra attention. This helps assure that the therapist can provide an effective treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs.

Once this discussion has taken place, you will then be asked to undress (with the exception of any necessary underwear). If modesty is an issue for some customers, they may choose to leave their clothes on if requested by their massage therapist – however it’s important to keep in mind that leaving any clothing still obstructs access to certain muscles so it’s best not too limit movement too much!

The next step involves lying down either face up or face down upon the massage table.

1) The therapist begins by applying oil or lotion depending upon which helps them better perform their job in hand;

2) They start off with light Pressing & kneading typically around targeted muscles followed by stretching;

3) Depending upon requested technique deep tissue work/therapeutic work may occur using fingers & palms focusing on problem spots throughout body;

4) Lastly they finish off with lighter rubdowns designed to stimulate circulation & release endorphins while slowly easing person back into reality after peaceful tranquility experienced through entire duration of session.

After a massage session, there are several important steps that you should take to make sure that you get the most out of the experience.

First and foremost, it is essential to drink plenty of water. During a massage, your body’s tissues are being manipulated and stretched in order to increase circulation and stimulate healing. Drinking plenty of water helps flush toxins released during the session from your system, providing healing benefits after the massage has finished. It is recommended that you drink at least 8 glasses of water following a massage session.

Try avoiding strenuous activities after a massage session. While exercise is beneficial for overall health, performing movements which cause strain on your muscles right away will limit the effects of your massage as well as feel uncomfortable due to soreness caused by manipulation during the therapy process. Allow your muscles time to rest by engaging in light physical activity such as gentle stretching or walking after treatment instead; this will help maximize benefits from the message while allowing you time to relax afterward too!

Finally, don’t forget about self-care post-massage! After all your hard work during treatment it is important that you give yourself some love in order for long lasting effect – spend time with family or friends if possible (even better if they can provide an additional form of relaxation such us foot massages!) or do something special just for yourself like write in a journal or watch Netflix – whatever makes YOU feel good 🙂

Overall, taking care before and after any type of massage session goes hand-in-hand with achieving optimal results; be mindful by practicing these three tips mentioned above so that each appointment leaves feeling refreshed and energized!

Our clients are always encouraged to maintain a clean and hygienic environment, but when it comes to body grooming or styling your hair, you have the freedom to make your own decisions – no judgments here! Relax in comfort while being yourself.

You don’t need to necessarily shower right before your massage, but do we ask that you come to your appointments clean and free of fragranced personal care products.

When it comes to getting a massage, one of the most important things to keep in mind is what kind of clothing you should be wearing. Generally speaking, during a massage you don’t have to be completely undressed. Most massage therapists recommend that their clients wear loose-fitting and comfortable clothing, such as sweatpants or shorts and a t-shirt or tank top.

It is also important to note that some massages may require more clothing removal depending on the type of massage being performed. For example, if you are getting an acupressure massage (one that uses finger pressure along energy meridians), then it’s better if your skin is fully exposed so the therapist can accurately access these points. Similarly with deep tissue work or hot stone therapy, areas need to be exposed in order for the therapist to properly apply targeted pressure or heat treatment. In these cases, it’s best for the client’s modesty and comfort level if they leave their undergarments on while partially undressing (so only certain parts of their body are uncovered).

At the end of the day though its all about your preferences – make sure you speak up if you want something adjusted! Beyond this general guideline, every individual therapist will provide personalized advice prior to beginning each session so communicate with your provider before arriving at your appointment regarding how much clothing removal might be necessary for maximum benefit from your session!

Some people enjoy having a conversation during their massage but keep in mind, the treatment is all about you releasing your tensions and enjoying the experience. Regardless of your choice, be sure to speak up during the massage if there is anything you’d like adjusted (temperature, pressure, music, etc).

Yes! A good massage therapist will check in with you during your massage to make sure the pressure is okay.

Be mindful that massage doesn’t have to cause you pain to be effective. Some massage techniques are pretty gentle. But do speak up and ask your therapist if you’d like more or less pressure during your session. We won’t be offended!

Yes, but to get the most benefit from your massage, it is best to work out before. Your muscles will likely be tired from the exercise but warmed up for the massage. Working out immediately after could cause strain to your body or result in your being tired and accidentally causing injury. It is best to wait 12-24 hours before exercising to let your muscles recover.

It is normal to feel sore and slight discomfort after receiving a treatment. If this is your first therapeutic treatment, your body will need time to adjust accordingly, but should not last longer than a few days. As treatments become more consistent, you’ll notice the recovery time will shorten.

"Touchy" Topics

While taking a massage, it’s natural to zone out and drift off into peaceful slumber! If you find yourself snoozing during your appointment, don’t fret – our Massage Katoikon therapists are experienced in providing restorative treatments that soothe the body and mind. Enjoy feeling relaxed without any judgment from us- we’re just glad to see you resting comfortably.

Your massage therapist is an expert in creating a peaceful, healing atmosphere during your session. Have no fear – they are committed to making you feel comfortable and confident regardless of physical appearance or any conditions that may be present. You will likely even receive advice on how best to address them!

To ensure the best massage experience, we suggest that you use the restroom before your session. Don’t let requesting a brief break for this interfere with relaxation – simply speak up if necessary! It’s also not unusual to have an increase in digestion during massage due to stimulation; no one will be embarrassed by any natural bodily functions occurring. To help minimize those chances, cut back on high-fiber foods prior to appointment time.

Being truly relaxed during a massage can be indicated in an unexpected way – passing gas. While this may cause embarrassment, rest assured that your therapist will offer zero judgment and understand it is simply indicative of the relaxation they caused. If you wish to avoid making any sounds whatsoever, no worries–just excuse yourself for a brief bathroom break!

Let your massage therapist know before your session. They can use firm, slow pressure or, if you’re extremely sensitive, they can avoid your tickle spots.

Massage therapy is a powerful tool of relaxation and healing, yet for some men the experience can be wrought with anxiety. Some fear unwanted arousal or feel embarrassed when experiencing an erection during massage session; however, it need not be concerning. Erections are actually quite natural responses to therapeutic touch – they occur due to activation in the parasympathetic nervous system as opposed to being sexual in nature. Professional massage therapists understand this phenomenon entirely and should offer you no judgment whatsoever! If you still remain uneasy, consider wearing more tailored underwear that provides extra coverage compared to traditional boxer shorts.

We take your comfort, protection and confidentiality seriously. Our therapists strive to create a safe and comfortable environment for all guests, so any sexual advances are strictly forbidden.

If it appears that the session is taking an inappropriate turn, our therapist will do their best to clarify intent with respect before deciding if they must terminate treatment.

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to any form of sexual misconduct during massage sessions, and if necessary we are prepared to alert the relevant authorities and take legal action.
